No longer required to register new measuring devices

New year, less bureaucracy

On January 1, 2025, a significant change came into effect that will make everyday work easier for many users of measuring instruments and scales: the legal obligation to report new or renewed measuring instruments has been abolished. Previously, users were required to report such devices to the relevant state authority within six weeks of commissioning. Thanks to the Fourth Bureaucracy Relief Act, this step is now completely eliminated.

What does this mean for users?

The elimination of the reporting requirement reduces bureaucratic effort and saves time and resources. Users can focus more on their core tasks without having to plan additional administrative steps. This leads to greater efficiency and a simplified work process.

Important: The calibration requirement remains in place!

Despite the abolition of the notification requirement, the calibration requirement remains in place. Devices that are subject to calibration must still be registered for calibration in good time as usual. The platform www.evp-service.de/DEMOL can still be used for this purpose. Detailed information is available from the competent calibration authorities or on the website eichamt.de.

Less bureaucracy, more focus on the essentials

This change is a significant step toward reducing the burden on users of measuring instruments and scales. It shows that modernization is also possible in administration and benefits all parties involved in the long term. Less bureaucracy means more time for the essentials—precise and reliable measurements.
